Today was a good day...

Not only was it the birthday of my favorite girl in the whole wide world, but it was also a good day for Anniston. We called this morning and they said that they would probably not take out her ventilator. However, when we went to see her, they changed their minds and removed it while we were there. Now she is only on a CPAP, which is 2 prongs up her nose. They also removed the last of the lines from her embylical cord. Now she only has a pic line, a small tube in her mouth for feedings, and her IV (they had to run some extra meds into her which could not be combined with the things in her pic line). She looks much better and is breathing 100% on her own. This was a very important step in getting her moved back to Memphis. We could move as early as this weekend!!!

I told you yesterday that I would explain why we were not going to Leboneur. When Dr. Henderson called to fill them in on all that was going on with Anniston, they told him that the hospitalstressed that there was a surgery center for babies in a more critical state. They explained that they did not want to tie up one of their beds with a baby that is as far along as Anniston is. This was a real encouragement to me because it helped me to know that she is really not in a critical state.

Also, every time they have discussed moving her in the past, they have said that she would have to be transported by air because she could not withstand the long ride to Memphis by ambulance. However, now they feel perfectly ok with her riding in the ambulance. There is obviously an extreme difference in the price for the 2 types of transportation. It was going to be about $30, 000 to fly her and it is only about $8,000 to take her on the ground. Talk about an expensive ride!! Thank God for insurance!! Therefore, we will probably be going to Baptist East. They wanted to send us to The Med but I don't own any bulletproof vests. I really wouldn't feel comfortable with Joni going there by herself. We should find out more details tomorrow about the move tomorrow. Be sure to check back for the updates. We love you guys!!!
